Intermediate Architectural Technologist

Job Description

We are looking for a versatile and detail-oriented intermediate architectural technologist to join our team working on commercial projects specializing in clinical environments (veterinary clinics) across Canada and the United States. The ideal candidate will contribute to the production of technical documents and coordinate with the various consultants involved in the development of the plans.

Responsibilities

Participate in the development of plans, specifications, and technical documents in compliance with building codes, standards, and regulatory requirements

Prepare detailed technical drawings (plans, sections, elevations, details) based on direction from the architect or project manager

Coordinate the integration of all disciplines (structural, mechanical, electrical) and ensure consistency across documents

Conduct surveys, inspections, or site visits to verify compliance or gather necessary information

Prepare or contribute to tender documents and permit application documentation

Track modifications, revisions, and requests for information (RFIs)

Work closely with the project team and communicate effectively with consultants and contractors

Provide technical support to the team in resolving design details or construction-related issues

Contribute to the management of small to medium-scale projects under moderate supervision

‍Candidate Profile Education :

Diploma of College Studies (DEC) in Architectural Technology, or any other relevant related training

‍

Experience :

5 to 9 years of relevant experience in an architecture firm

Experience in commercial and/or clinical architectural technology (veterinary, dental, etc.) is an asset

‍

Technical Skills :

Proficiency with drafting and modeling software (AutoCAD, Revit, BIM)

Ability to produce plans, specifications, technical details, and construction documents

Understanding of architectural, structural, mechanical, and electrical systems

Ability to read and interpret multidisciplinary drawings

Experience in managing technical documents, revisions, and plan coordination

General Skills :

Excellent command of English (spoken and written) and intermediate French speaking abilities (required)

Strong organizational and prioritization skills

Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously

Team spirit and professional interpersonal skills

Knowledge of commercial suppliers

Autonomy, rigor, initiative, and a solution-oriented attitude

Permanent full-time position (35 hours per week)

100% remote work with flexible schedule

Equipment provided according to your preferences (computer, desk, chair, monitor, etc.)

Five weeks of vacation per year (including 2 weeks during the holiday season)

We are looking for a versatile and detail-oriented architect to join our team working on commercial projects specializing in clinical environments (veterinary clinics) across Canada and the United States. The ideal candidate will be involved in all stages of the design process—from conceptual design to coordination and the production of technical documentation.

Responsibilities

Participate in all project phases: sketches, preliminary plans, permit drawings, and construction documents
Contribute to conceptual development and research of creative and functional solutions
Produce 3D models and renderings (SketchUp, Revit, etc.)
Prepare and coordinate technical documents (plans, specifications, details)
Participate in site follow-ups and coordinate with professionals (engineers, consultants, contractors)
Ensure project compliance with building codes, standards, and municipal regulations
Prepare presentations for clients and collaborators
Support project management by ensuring deadlines and deliverables are met
Collaborate closely with team members in a spirit of sharing and continuous improvement

Candidate Profile

‍

Education :

Master’s degree in architecture
Registration or in-process application for membership with the Ordre des Architectes du Québec (OAQ)
Current or completed architectural internship

‍

Experience :

1 to 5 years of relevant experience in an architectural firm
Experience in commercial and/or clinical design (veterinary, dental, etc.) is a plus
Involvement in all project phases (design, permit drawings, construction, site coordination)
Experience with BIM tools (Revit), modeling software (SketchUp, Enscape), and technical document production
Experience coordinating with consultants and external stakeholders (engineers, clients, municipalities, etc.)
Participation in site follow-ups or partial construction supervision (an asset for intermediate-level candidates)

Technical Skills :

Proficient in a BIM software, primarily Revit
Strong knowledge of technical drawing software: AutoCAD, Revit, or equivalent
Skilled in modeling and presentation software: SketchUp, Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator)
Familiarity with rendering software: Enscape, V-Ray, etc.
Ability to produce detailed technical drawings, specifications, and permit documents
Understanding of Quebec Building Code, municipal regulations, and applicable standards
Ability to read and coordinate technical drawings with other disciplines
