Black Mountain Veterinary Hospital

Project Summary
When Dr. Cook approached us to design the new space for the Black Mountain Veterinary Clinic’s relocation, she came with a few preliminary sketches developed by a local interior design team. However, it quickly became evident that the proposed layout presented several challenges—particularly in terms of workflow inefficiencies and the absence of a dedicated retail area at reception.

Our approach
On the drawing board, we had one clear goal: to make every square foot count. Although the clinic’s footprint was modest at just 2,400 sq. ft., and irregular in shape, the new design maximizes functionality through smart spatial planning.
Key features of the new layout include:
- Four exam rooms, including a dual-purpose space that also serves as a comfort room
- A dedicated dentistry suite, complete with a panoramic X-Ray machine
- A centralized treatment and prep zone to reduce staff travel time
- A separate induction room, distinct from the main treatment area

Render VS Real
Using our 3D visualization tools, we were able to validate every practical element of the layout before construction began—ensuring optimal flow, function, and comfort. The final result was so true to the renderings, it was hard to tell where the plans ended and reality began.

Feedback
The transformation from the previous space has been remarkable. What was once a space full of workflow bottlenecks now runs seamlessly. Despite its small size, the designed clinic feels open, efficient, and calming. Staff have embraced the improved environment, and even the animals seem noticeably more at ease. The combination of openness and thoughtful planning has created a truly welcoming atmosphere for everyone.
